I hand selected these slices of Turquoise from my most favourite gem shop in Portland, Oregon in April 2018. For the stud tops, I melted sterling silver from my scrap jar in to blobs, then hand forged the blobs with a chunky old hammer to flatten them out, adding texture from the hammer's surface. The settings that hold the Turquoise slices are also handmade from recycled silver and they dance when you move.
I love that no two pieces are ever the same, no one else is going to have the same pair of earrings as you with this pair. The Turquoise slices are removeable, allowing you to wear the recycled silver studs alone, or with their super hero Turquoise capes. I've intentionally left tool marks and signs of the hand making process in these earrings. You can see where my hammer, files and pliers have been, adding to the story of these earrings.
